NMB is the world’s largest manufacturer of miniature bearings, precision bearings, instrument ball bearings, and radial bearings. Having a global market share in excess of 60%, NMB produces 150 million bearings per month.

Ball Bearings Ball Bearings

Ball bearings are machinery components, which comprise an outer ring, inner ring, balls, retainers, shields and snap rings. Miniature bearings and small-sized ball bearings have up to 30mm in external diameter. Essential to high-precision rotary components, ball bearings determine rotational accuracy.

Bearing types include Radial Ball Bearings (Deep Groove and Angular Contact) and Thrust Ball Bearings. Radial bearings are designed to carry both radial and axial (thrust) loads, while thrust bearings are designed for pure thrust loads only. Many different configurations are available for ball bearings.

Miniature Bearings Miniature Bearings

  • Our miniature bearings range in sizes from .1181 to 1.000 inch O.D. (3mm to 26mm), and are available in inch and metric sizes.

Miniature bearings and instrument bearings are single row bearings. The construction of these miniature bearings enables them to carry moderate radial and thrust loads at low operating torque while providing high performance within a small envelope design. Miniature bearings and instrument bearings are typically available in both stainless steel for those applications requiring corrosion resistance and chrome for maximum fatigue life.

Minebea manufactures more than 8,500 different types of miniature and small-sized bearings, most of which have external diameters of 22mm or less.

Precision Bearings Precision Bearings and Metric Precision Bearings

NMB's precision bearings are composed of materials that are subjected to severe stress reversals of approximately 1000 MPa. For applications with high pressure compressive stress reversals, an extremely pure and hard material is required for our precision bearings. NMB mainly uses high performance carbon chromium steel; or when good corrosion resistance is required, martensitic stainless steel in its precision bearings.

Developed by NMB's parent company, MKJ3 is a high carbon chromium bearing steel combined with a special heat treating process. This steel makes our precision bearings have a higher hardness and a more stable structure than standard chrome bearing steel. This allows the steel to retain its shape under adverse conditions.

Radial Bearings Radial Bearings

  • Standard inch and metric series radial bearings carry moderate radial and thrust loads at low operating torque and provide high performance within small envelope designs.

Radial ball bearings are probably the most widely used and most recognized ball bearing. These radial bearings have one row of balls (referred to as a single row), which revolves around the ball path. This feature provides another name for the radial bearings; they are commonly called deep groove bearings.

NMB radial bearings are used in aircraft components, such as wing flaps, engine and wing mounts and hatches, and rod-ends. These radial bearings are also used extensively in helicopters, trains and automobiles, functioning as joints.

Mechanical Assemblies Mechanical Assemblies

NMBs precision mechanical assemblies are bearing mechanical assemblies designed for a wide range of applications, including high accuracy head positioning pivot assemblies, encoder assemblies for robotics, CAD/CAM systems and factory automation. Many of these mechanical assemblies are found in office automation, including integral bearings for use in rigid disk drive spindles, and as part of printers, fax machines and copiers.

NMB produces precision mechanical assemblies for printers facsimile machines, copiers and telex typewriters. Our engineers can help you design a quality, cost efficient mechanical assemblies that can be produced in small or volume production quantities.
