Hybrid
Stepping Motors
These hybrid stepping
motors rotate at fixed angles by digitally controlled electronic
pulses. The hybrid stepping motors are
also used in the paper-feeding devices of printers, copy
machines, facsimiles and similar equipment. Hybrid stepping
motors combine a rotor with a permanent magnet and a magnetic
body using ball bearings.

Magnet Stepping Motor's Basic Structure
Permanent magnet
(PM) stepping motors use a permanent magnet (PM) as a rotor and
contain no ball bearings. These permanent
magnet stepping motors rotate at fixed angles by digitally controlled
electronic pulses.
The
stator section of permanent magnet (PM) series stepping motors
consists of coils, stator yokes, in/out terminals and stators molded
together
in
one piece
by plastic
resin. As seen in the diagram, the permanent magnet stepping motors
are assembled simply by combining stator with rotors of cylindrical
permanent magnets.
Permanent
magnet stepping motors are widely used in printers, copiers, and
scanners,
or to
activate
valves
in household water and gas systems, and as actuators
in automotive applications.

PM Stepping Motors
PM stepping motors are without ball bearings and use a permanent magnet (PM) as a rotor. Electronic pulses cause the PM stepping motor to rotate at fixed angles.
The PM motors are high precision at low cost. The size and output torque can be freely selected which gives the PM stepping an advantage.
